Despite all the aggravation that it has caused me.
There's just something about the sound and look of a P/D Cobra that really excites me!
Anyways, I've tried two Romeos and a Teksid and they all end up something like this...

...Many of my friends have tried to convince me to convert over to Turbo and have power that's a-lil less shocking to the block...but I've decided against it...Maybe I'm just an idiot but I kinda like the challenge! (I figured since I still went 9.5's with a cracked block, I should give it one more chance because I really want to see what it can do with a block that can really hold the power!)
So, I talked alittle bit to Randy@SuttonHP and he highly recommended me the Boss 5.0 block, it's the same block they've ran for a few seasons in their Renegade Car with no issues at 1300+ Supercharged Horsepower. I figured that EFI Renegade Mustangs are amongst the best setup supercharged Mustangs in the country, I decided that this block maybe the answer.
So I looked up the closest vendor that had one in stock that I could drive to in a reasonable time and ended up going to MMR in California and picked one up the next day.
When I first saw the Boss 5.0, I didn't think too much of it. At a quick glance it doesn't appear to be that much different but when I decided to take a closer look I noticed that there's quite a bit that is different.
Visually the block looks smoother, you can definitely tell there's less porosity compared to that of a Romeo/Winsor blocks. It's smooth to the touch, it's really hard to explain...it just feels dense! The main webbing is definitely casted much thicker and the casting looks exceptionally consistent throughout the block .
The biggest thing that I'd like to mention is the weight of this block. I'm a decently big guy and I don't have much of an issue picking up a Romeo block by myself and carrying across the shop if neccessary but that's not the case for the Boss...it weighs quite a bit more. It's something that my employees noticed as well, it can definitely catch your "back" by suprise...but visually it's really hard to tell that there is "that" much more iron in it. So right now I'm back to being excited and I'll keep you guys posted with the results! Hopefully this will be the solution!
Here's some pics I took of the block.
