just wanted to know everyones opinion on which one you would get if you could do it all over or if you could buy one and why???
swoosh-stang
Depends on which ones you're comparing.

If you are looking at the biggest possible blower of each, 2.8h vs 3.4, then go with the Whipple 3.4 if you're not looking at the 3.4 Whipple, then go Kenne Bell.

My personal opinion.

If you're trying to be a little under the radar, the Whipple looks much more similar to the eaton, it all depends on what your decision making factors are.

I'm a fan of Whipple..

The are more down to earth people so when your Kenne gets fucked up (read: Ace's car 15 times) - you can actually get ahold of them and get service instead of having to deal with an arrogant asshole like Jim Bell.

Powerwise, I'm still a whipple fan.

Think of the whipple as apple (the PC company) - 5 years ago they didnt know shit, but now they have their hands in everything. Where as the KB is like Windows - really well known but it never works when you want it to..

Whipple all the way.

Maybe he acts differently when you're calling up to complain about a broken supercharger, but I've had a number of conversations with Jim Bell over the years and have always found him to be friendly and helpful.

Meh, for $7,000 and under 2,000 miles - I'd expect my shit to work..

No doubt. Unfortunately KB doesn't have anything left for Dodges and what little they used to have was always considered subpar compared to other manufacturers so I don't have a lot of first-hand experience with their superchargers, just commenting that I found him to be one of the more helpful guys I've talked to over the years.

thats if you can get a hold of someone there.... It took me 20 phone calls a day for 2 weeks to get a hold of customer service. Jim Bell was an asshole when I talked to him when my blower seiged and all he wanted to proof was how I fucked it up instead of finding a solution for my problem. He said I was running too much boost for the streets... when they told me which pulley to use and they told me its ok for the street. I took the blower out sent it to KB, got it back and put it on (2 months later) and after 3 days it broke again. I had to take it out.... do it all over again... pay Gil Nevarez to do it and send it back to KB for a replacement... after 200 phone calls...
now the blower is good tho... so if you dont mind going through one of these nightmares... go ahead and get a KEnne BEll.

Ace didn't you pretty much have to post up on SVTP to get a response out of them?
svtfrankie

yes indeed my friend.

I'm going to have my new 140ax Whipple gen2 installed at NRP in the next couple of weeks. I decided on whipple for these reasons:
1. New gen2 rotors, more boost and cooler temps at same rpm. (they say)
2. Factory fit and finish. Looks alot better IMO.
3. Way cheaper ($2900.00 Shipped!)
4. Word is KB struggles with support for the little guys.
5. Says "Ford Racing" on a bitchen sticker on each side.
The 2.3 is a perfect size for what I want. If you want crazy power the KB 2.8 or Whipple 3.4 will do it but I heard you really need to spin it hard. I think the KB 2.8 fits under the hood, the 3.4 does not . If you go over to Shelby, all you see are the KB 2.8 kits going on the GT500's.
What's all this mean?
We'll see how mine comes out. I'm looking for 570 to 580 (Gil) with a 3.1 pulley which should make just under 17psi.

16nake
Whipple is done and tuned. Turns out the 3.1 pulley made 18 psi! So the results are 583 HP/ 535 TQ, 16 deg timing on upper end, under 12 a/f, 91 octane. This is with stock cats and flowmaster single chamber race mufflers, Accufab TB, K&N intake. The stock eaton was making 448 with a 2.76 pulley. I have a 3.3 pulley on order to try before the heat comes back. That should get the boost down to apx 16.5. Also going to replace cats with hi flow xpipe and staight thru mufflers.

That Whipple looks and performs great!!! Vids coming soon... smile.gif

I love my Whipple. I just went 9.92@136.68 last week at only 19.5 psi with my little 2.3 first time out.
I'D WIN
I'd say you did pretty good with that little 2.3 Whippy.

And to the OP, I'd go Whipple as well anyday over the KB. Oh wait, I did .. 3.4 all the way.
ADOSMFR
i will say that i love KB's but im all over the whipple train now. They definitely look cooler to me and ive heard less about whipples having problems than kenne bells.....my KB gt was fine except my pressure sender went bad but for the cobra id go whipple.

Any of you Cobra people have any input on actual gains to be had going from stock cats to hi flo x pipe at the 600HP level? I've heard all sorts of stuff so I'm looking for some first hand before and after data. Also are these tiny little flowmaster single chambers hurting? Car sounds awesome now. Not too loud but sweet. A little bit rappy though. I seem to be the only one anywhere with flowmasters. I welcome all exhaust combo recomendations. Thanks

90 degree turndowns at the header collectors will do wonders.

I drove like that for a few weeks - sounds great, but very hard to sneak by the po-po that way wink.gif

My current setup isn't much better though - headers, Dr Gas X-pipe, Spintech race mufflers, dumped,
