I know that this is going to piss some people off (and I really do not care) but i figured that I would post up in here because although I own a Mustang, I plan on putting this motor in it. It is a SBC that should put out some decent numbers for it being n/a. Kind like best of both worlds. I was going to put the motor in my RX7 but I decided to sell the car. Looks like I will have a unique hybrid. Like it or hate it, wait until I finish the swap and see how fast she goes down the 1320...

I think its absolutely badass .. when people do something different like that.. What kind of numbers are you Expecting?
ArthurJGuy
Build Ford tough.... with Chevy stuff.

haha, its awesome bro. The best of both worlds. What are the rest of the details on the motor and car ?
SVT03
Not to mention ... EVERYONE knows chevy parts are like half the price of ford.

Thanks guys. I got much worse feedback on a local site devoted to rotards, I mean rotaries.

My brother was originally building the motor for his '58 Corvette but then got a divorce and decided to sell it to me. This combination is more radical than his previous motor and he was running 11.80's with a passenger with his last motor.

We are estimating that this motor will produce between 550-625 horsepower before nitrous or a super/turbo charger. I am not the kind to 'hide' secrets about my motor.

It is pretty much a 400 SBC bored .030 over (406) with Race Ready 100% CNC ported Air Flow Research 210cc heads. The valves are 2.08" intake and 1.60" exhaust.

Everything is forged; JE custom 9.3:1 pistons, Lunati Pro-Mod rods, Eagle crank, Fluidampner balancer, Bowtie Racing single-plane manifold, staggered roll-rockers (1.5/1.6), ARP main and head studs, Titan SCE copper head-gaskets, and TRW high-volume oil-pump.

I have to look for my cam-card but, the cam is a little too-big for the streets but I do intend on driving to the track. I know that the cam is a Cam Motion split profile mechanical-roller cam but I forgot the specs. I think it is sporting a .413" lobe lift (not valve lift) and .258 at .050" (because I will be using n2o or a super/turbo-charger).

I already have a powerglide built for the car but I have not ordered the converter. I want a tight converter (3500-4000 stall) so I will not have too much trouble driving it to the meets.

Of course, I will need a cage but, I hope to find someone to assist me with that.

I want to run 28x11.5-15 ET Street Radials with 4.10 gears but I do not want to run out of gear on the big-end. This motor should not take a lot of effort, RPM-wise, to make power.

Anyway, the car should be fun to drive, once I am done.

It will take me some time to gather all of the rest of the parts (chrome-moly cage, Strange differential, new wheels and tires, fabricating, because the car has to be my daily driver since my GTI was totaled about 4 weeks ago...

I love this kind of a hybrid. All the right chevy stuff in the best possible ford drag racing platform.

I myself am putting an LSX into a 87 RX-7....so....I like chevy motor hybrids, lol
Sir Charles
Who cares if others don't like it. Sounds like a hell of a build to me. I hope to see pictures of this. Good luck on your build.

1987 RX-7's are second generation. I have seen SBC-powered first-gens at the track...

yeppers 2nd gen, not a turbo II just a GL or something like that....its a rolling chassis with no interior right, steering column and 3 pedals, nothing else.

It should be fun.
beyondspexj
sounds like a killer setup!
