As some of you know, I was just married and arrived back to Vegas early Friday morning and I didn't go to bed until 3am the following day. It was quite a hectic day to say the least!!!
I didn't have time to check the DA conditions but it was a hot day, hotter than it was when I went the 9.93. The good news was, my wife brought me ice, ALOT of ICE. About 8 Bags worth (Enough to fit two large coolers)...
Since she was there, she also brought the camera! So she was able to get the 9.83 pass on tape. My friend John was also there and got quite a few nice pictures of my car launching as well.
Track conditions were decent during the Test and Tune Portion of the night but it went away as Midnight Mayhem started (street legal drags).
Anyways a summary of how it went.
First pass, with the car off the trailer which would've been the strongest pass my car has ever done bar-none. It had a fresh bottle, and the car was still cool.
However the car got out of the groove near the 1/8th mile mark enough where I felt uncomfortable and I had to lift. Car went a 6.3 in the eigth which was identical to the eigth time when I went the 9.9 but it did it with a 112mph vs. the 108 when I went the 9.93 pass! But since I lifted, the car only went a 10.73@94mph. Car 60' great 1.43.
Next pass, I made sure the bottle was warm, cooled the motor down and gave it another shot! I attached a link to the video to let you see for yourself how it went.
It went pretty flawlessly. Car 60' a 1.375, and eclipsed the eigth in 6.2 seconds and quartered 9.83@136.79!
I knew the pass was good before I saw the slip and I was so ecstatic that I made a clean pass that I lost my voice on the return lane, but I honestly didn't expect to beat my best pass of 9.93 by a full tenth!
Third pass wasn't too good, we were in a rush to make the last pass in before the end of the night and we ended up draining too much fluid out of the intercooler box and cavitated the pump. It took a brief moment to get that thing back in order.
I wasn't too concerned with running an even better time since I already went the solid 9.8 pass but I was itching to take her down the track again. I'm glad I went the 9 when I did because they don't bother to "drag" the track at midnight mayhem unless somebody breaks but fortunately for everyone- nobody broke. However, as you all know, not dragging the track isn't good for hooking. So the track condition went away and I managed to get out of the groove pretty bad before the 330 and I just let off.
Anyways, the night would've ended up pretty good EXCEPT that I found out after I pulled my car onto the trailer that my intercooler pump made it's last few breaths before quitting on me permanently . Dang it! I guess it didn't like the cavitation it was put through. My fault though, nobody to blame but me. It was still a good night and I was very pleased.
So yeah, that's pretty much how it went!
Anyways, enough boring you of the details, here's some pics and the video!
